I have been a golf professional for nearly 20 years. During this time, I have had the good fortune to work at just about every type of golf facility you could imagine. I have thoroughly enjoyed my travels as I set out early in my career to experience as many aspects of this wonderful sport as possible.
Before starting my career in golf, I played in college for Mount Mercy College (Go Mustangs!). While I competed at Mount Mercy, I was named All American Conference (Highest Academic/Lowest Scoring Average) in 1995 and 1996. I was the 1996 Conference Player of the Year and during that year I won the NAIA Conference Championship. In 2006, I was inducted into the Mount Mercy College Hall of Fame for Athletics and Academics.
After graduating, I moved back to the Portland area and was the 1st Assistant at Charbonneau Golf Course for 4 years before moving on to become the Head Professional at the Lake Oswego Golf Course. I am thrilled, however, to have finally found my home here at RedTail Golf Center. The teaching amenities and the professional staff here are the best I have ever seen and the focus on education and customer service are second to none.
Along with teaching golf for the nearly 20 years I am also the Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Golf Coach at Lake Ridge High School. I have been their coach since 2008 and plan on coaching the Girls Team for the foreseeable future. It brings extreme joy to me to be able to help develop the Girls Junior Golf Program in the area as it should be a program that will exist for many years to come.
I enjoy teaching golfers of all ages and skill levels. My teaching philosophy is simple, "Understanding and applying the basic fundamentals of golf will proved the best results." I make sure that both of us start with an understanding of what your golf goals are and with you help, I develop a Personal Lesson Plan (PLP) that will be our roadmap to your success. Part of my success as an instructor and high school coach is due to my patience and soft spoken nature but also my ability to use humor and insight to motivate a student to achieve their goals.
I have spent a long time in the golf industry and I have seen firsthand innumerable golf facilities and teaching academies. None of them even begin to compare to the resources, technology, professionalism, and knowledge that exists at RedTail Golf Center.
